PRI-D Lubricity/Stability treatment for distillate fuels has acquired an unmatched reputation among thousands of diesel engine operators for providing optimum lubricity protection and combustion performance in today’s low sulfur distillate fuels.
Developed in 1985, PRI-D was reformulated in 1989 to meet the critical lubricity challenges associated with the first low sulfur diesel fuels introduced in the United States. Then in 2003, the lubricity capability of PRI-D was upgraded even more to handle to the soon to be mandated ultra low sulfur diesel (ULSD) fuels (0.0015% sulfur).
Today, PRI-D is unequaled in providing the safest, most effective approach in protecting fuel delivery systems and engines against the degraded lubricity and ignition quality characteristics of modern low sulfur, low viscosity distillate fuels. Literally thousands of clients – from tug and research vessel operators, to offshore drilling companies and cruise and tanker operators, are today successfully protecting their vessels from excessive fuel pump wear and failure, while benefitting from enhanced fuel performance. HFRR testing confirms PRI-D improves fuel lubricity as much as 45 percent. Like PRI-RS, PRI-D has also been subjected to independent, third party emissions test conducted under proper government protocols. Not only has PRI-D been proven to reduce oxides of nitrogen (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), unburned hydrocarbon (HC) and particulate emissions (PM), fuel consumption per unit of power output is reduced anywhere from .55 to 1.3 percent on clean, test stand engines.
PRI-D can be added directly to tanks prior to bunkering at the optimum 1:2000 dosage ratio. PRI-D provides:
- Fuel lubricity improvement as much as 45 percent
- Fuel stability improvement as much as 75 percent
- Prevention of damaging, power-robbing carbon deposits.
